AHA club only picks up in July with meads and the next CBOY doesn't happen until September. Well folks, it's time to start thinking about Fall and all of the beloved activities that accompany it. First and foremost on everyones list should be the Charlotte Oktoberfest. With that in mind we'll be treated to a talk by one of the master's of the Oktoberfest style, Joel Masters that is. He'll regale us with tips and tricks as well as a history of the fest known and loved throughout the world entire. Plan early to brew for the Charlotte festival. It's always a great time and a great recruitment opportunity. PSB has become an integral part of the homebrew tents and we need to remain that way! Needless to say, more details to follow as the event gets closer. I'll make sure to print out a sizeable batch of PSB cards for our brewing brethren. Speaking of, it looks like we are rapidly expanding our reach and influence along the coastal region of our fair state. Welcome to our newest "beach brewer" John Setzer. Dare I say it... does this mean there's a possibility of two infamous "Beach Brew's"? Only time will tell! Report from the VP of Social Events: Stave off the upcoming June heatwave with these events! Wednesday, June 4th: "Come on down to Barley's Taproom Upstairs on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 starting at 7:00 p.m. for the GREAT DIVIDE BREWING CO.'S EAST COAST CASK ALE DEBUT! Join us along with Chris Dotson as we tap a firkin of Great Divide's Oak-Aged Yeti Imperial Stout...brewed with espresso! Not only is this the 1st cask ale Great Divide has ever done on the East Coast, but this beer has NEVER been released outside of the brewery in Colorado! That said: cask conditioned + espresso = new Barley's record for amount of time it takes to blow a cask! That means, get there early." I will be here and will report back on our, uh, findings. Saturday June 21st: "Everybody usually brings some interesting beers that are not generally available in Georgia. Occasionally someone brings their homebrew. It's always a great opportunity to try some different brews. The Brick Store doesn't charge a corkage fee; we just need to take care of the staff as if we were buying the beer there. We'll also be helping to celebrate the 11th Anniversary of the Brick Store, which will be in the midst of the "11 Kegs in 11 Days Festival." Brickstoredave promises to have some of the more rare kegs available on the weekend, so this will work perfectly for us." I believe Joseph and some others are going to this, the last one was mind-blowingly good. An excellent chance to try rare beers you might never get to otherwise. Saturday June 28th: Is the 3rd year of the famous Beach Brew session at Brian Mosely's in Pawley's Island. Come on down for great homebrew and food and stick around for the weekend on the beach. This is not to be missed! Check the forum for details. Brew well and brew often!
