With summer fast approaching, the competition circuit is taking a break. Can we as competitive brewers take a break? NO!!! Now is the time to bottle all those beers you brewed in the late winter and spring and get them ready for the fall competitions. If you have the facilities for cooler fermentations, brewing can also continue through the summer months. There is also an interesting competition coming up sponsored by MALT and the Pisgah Organic brewing Company of Black Mountain, NC. The BOS winner gets to brew his/her recipe on the commercial equipment at Pisgah. The entry deadline is July 3 and the competition is July 11. For more information go to one of the following websites. http://www.maltsters.org http://www.pisgahbrewing.com Keep brewing, keep bottling, and get ready to get back in the game when the Carolina Brewer of the Year Competitions resume in the fall. Ahhh…June is in the air and that means it time for some nice lite american lager. You can pick whatever you favorite is, but I've always had a soft spot for PBR. This week on the meeting agenda we will be discussing yeast and the immense effect they can have on beer. David Merz will be giving us a wonderful talk on yeast and potential advice on how to make better beer. And better beer is what we all want, right? So, please come by and see his wonderful talk. Then apply some new knowledge to your brewing! Be sure to bring any homebrew that you have to the meeting so that everyone can taste your wonderful concoctions. Plus, it’s always nice to get some outside input on how amazing your beer is or on possible ways to fix your beer. Also coming up we are having a Brewery tour on June 13th at 11am. If you live in Columbia we are meeting at BetMar at 9am to car pool down Charleston. Once, we’re at Coast we are going to be given a tour, a tasting, and we will be able to pick up the grain from the bulk grain buy. After the tour we are going to be getting some pizza from a local restaurant. Yummy! Report from the VP of Social Events: Events for June! Hey all!
